Ross Compact

Should you drift it

Rusted chain replacement needed Drivetrain rust and component servicing required Vintage entry-level steel step-through road bikes typically fetch around $100 in the NYC used market. A $20 deduction is applied due to the heavily rusted chain and corroded drivetrain components requiring service. This brings the fair value to $80, making the $160 price tag overpriced. National sales for the 10-speed Ross Compact average $70 to $100, while active NYC Craigslist listings in Brooklyn and Queens range from $140 to $160 for clean, ready-to-ride models. A 40 percent NYC urban density premium is applied, with no component wear deductions required given the clean frame and functional drivetrain.
