Deal rating: Overpriced. Adjusted fair value: $1,150. Minor paint chips Baseline market value for a 2006 custom Allan Wanta lugged steel frameset ($600) with a Shimano Ultegra 10s drivetrain, Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheelset ($450), and Chris King headset ($150) is approximately $1,200. A $50 deduction for minor paint chips brings the estimated fair value to $1,150. The asking price of $2,200 is significantly overpriced for the secondary market.

"Classic style frame hand made by Allan Wanta built up around 2006 "Rivendell style" but with better quality parts. An equivalent bike today would run you about $5000. The bike recently had a tube replaced by Wanta himself, and was also repainted by him and looks quite good. "The frame is handmade in California by Allan Wanta and has all the desirable features of a good long distance bike such as long chainstays, low bottom bracket, attachment points for front and rear racks, a Nitto stem with a lots of height adjustment, and beautiful Henry James lugs and fork crown." Size is approximately a 57 cm, close to 56 cm. Good for anyone in the 5'10 to 6'4 range. The only reason I'm selling is because it's too big for me. About one year ago I installed a new 10 sp Ultegra drivetrain, with Dura-ace bar end shifters which maintain the original brake levers and are a blast to use and new Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels which are definitely touring ready. Cantilever brakes are easily serviceable and great for touring. The wheels are mavic ksyrium with 25/28c tires in good condition. This bike has great tire clearance and can handle 35C at least, along with braze ons for all kinds of cargo. You're encouraged to inspect in person. The bike shifts well and is ready to ride, but may like some cleaning and fresh lube. Some paint chips are evident, mostly visible in the pictures. Price is fair for such a unique bike so please take it seriously.
