Cosmetic finish wear and surface rust on seatpost Vintage steel rigid mountain bikes from this era generally hold a baseline market value around $100 in functional condition within the NYC market. Cosmetic paint wear and surface rust on components like the seatpost reduce valuation slightly by about $25. Listed at $60, this complete commuter/beater offers a fair entry point for basic neighborhood transportation. Local NYC-area comps show stock functional Ross Mt. Pocono models listed on Craigslist and OfferUp for $50 to $60 in fair condition, while better-maintained vintage Ross steel mountain bikes command up to $100. Factoring in local demand for usable steel beaters alongside visible paint scuffs, the market value aligns well at $75, making a $60 listing a solid deal.
